OPA awarded competitive grant of $374,000 for school safety program

Open Enrollment Lottery for Siblings of Existing Students and New Students:

Open Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is from February 14 through March 14, 2024. If you have a child who is a sibling of a currently enrolled OPA student, and you want the sibling to attend OPA next school year, you must fill out an application for them during Open Enrollment. Please visit the application website at www.applyopa.com, where you will submit your application and mark the applicant as a sibling of a currently enrolled OPA student at the appropriate campus. Failure to apply to an incoming sibling will exclude them from the lottery, and they will have to join the waiting list after those participating. The lottery will take place on April 25, 2024.

If your champion is in grades TK-4 you do not need to do anything for the lottery. For 5th grade families or families looking to bring their champion’s sibling to OPA please read below.

As we step into February, I am excited to share with you some upcoming events that will enrich our community with cultural celebrations and the spirit of unity.

Firstly, let's embrace the vibrant traditions of Lunar New Year, a time of renewal and hope for many of our families. This year, we have planned special activities and educational opportunities to highlight the significance of this festive occasion. Our goal is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures within our school community. On Tuesday, our champions will be participating in various Lunar New Year festivities and watching a traditional lion dance.

I am thrilled to share an incredible opportunity for our students to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge—an initiative that not only promotes physical well-being but also aligns seamlessly with the OPA Champion Profile's emphasis on civic engagement.

The Kids Heart Challenge is an annual event that encourages our students to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle while making a positive impact on the community. Through fun and interactive activities, students will not only be developing important physical fitness habits but also cultivating a sense of responsibility towards others.

This week, we are excited to join in the nationwide celebration of School Choice Week, a time when we acknowledge and celebrate the importance of parents having the ability to choose the educational path that best suits their child.

This holiday provides us with an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with our children about the importance of diversity, respect, and understanding.
