Good morning OPA family,
As you may be aware, at last night’s Board meeting a decision was made by the Board to restructure Organizational Leadership. The Board has appointed me to the position of Interim Executive Director to ensure continuous support for our school sites, teachers, students, and staff. While I am sure there are many questions, the organization must follow strict laws and regulations protecting employee privacy and confidentiality. That said, I will keep you informed of any updates as we move forward.
I bring with me over 30 years of experience in education, retiring as Superintendent of the West Covina Unified School District. Prior to that, I spent many years in Orange County working in leadership roles in Capistrano, Saddleback, and Newport Mesa. As a Superintendent, I worked closely with San Jose Charter and California Virtual Academy Charter schools. And recently, I served two terms as interim K-8 Superintendent in Fountain Valley and Westminster.
My doctorate was earned at the University of Southern California, and I continue to sit on the Rossier School of Education Deans Advisory Group. Additionally, I am an active member of the Southern California Superintendents Organization.
I feel that OPA clearly aligns with my personal beliefs as an educator that all children can learn at higher levels. As a strong advocate of Professional Learning Communities, I am impressed with OPA’s commitment to student learning through the Theory of Multiple Intelligences and the Champion Profile.
I look forward to meeting you at a school site open forum to be scheduled in the near future.
Charles Hinman, Ed.D.
