OPA’s annual Day of Service took place over the weekend with 75 OPA families, totaling over 200 OPA volunteers, coming together to give back to their community.
For the Day of Service, OPA partnered with the City of Mission Viejo for their Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration. Students and their families had the opportunity to give back to their community by planting trees and shrubs along a section of the Oso Creek Trail.
The City of Mission Viejo offered their thanks to OPA:
“On behalf of our City, we would like to thank Oxford Prep and all the student volunteers and parents who showed up on Saturday for Arbor Day. The event was a HUGE success and Oxford Prep students were a major part of it. We look forward to having you all join us again next year. We sincerely thank you for your time and contribution on a gloomy Saturday.”
As part of our Champion Profile and the Civic Engagement competency, champions are encouraged to engage in activities that make a positive difference in their community. Our Annual Day of Service provides an opportunity for our champions to actively practice service-learning by giving back to their community.
